Personal memory by Carla Tenu
2017 CE • Corbeanca, Romania
I remember winters in my childhood in Romania when snow defined everyday life for months. Schools often closed, neighborhoods turned into shared play spaces, and snow enabled organized snow fights, sleighing, and long walks through a white forest. It reshaped paths and bicycle ramps, creating new places for play and connection. Today, climate change has altered this winter landscape. Snow arrives late, melts quickly, and turns into ice and slush. What is disappearing is a part of my childhood that can no longer exist in the same way.
