"The white–handed gibbon is a master of agility admired for their remarkably fast and seemingly effortless suspensory motion through the trees. Rapid loss of habitat poses the principle threat to gibbons. The forests of Southeast Asia are being cut down at breathtaking speed due to logging and agriculture. Sometimes hunted for meat the capture of young gibbons for the pet trade is rampant in some countries. Classified as endangered by the IUCN Red List the highest priority in protecting this primate must be given to preserving adequate areas of suitable habitat."
