The Water

Personal memory by Oldest Man in Uros Island

1920Uros Island, Peru

There used to not be much water, but now the area has really filled in. It has gotten hotter, and that climate change has affected the people a lot. The water levels are increasing at a faster rate. When he was younger he lived on islands that were very far away from civilization, but now they are very close and tourists come all the time. The community is making tourism more important because Lake Titicaca does not have many fish or reeds."
