Personal memory by Joslica Mieles
1987 • Cloud Forest, Ecuador
“Hunting in the forests doesn’t allow for the species, animals, birds, and insects that have always lived there to keep their habitat in Cotacachi. The spectacled bear, the condor, and birds like the woodpecker. Our indigenous people believe that if they burn the forests the rain will come and because of this belief, they burn many acres of the forests in the mountains.”
