Every summer, the buzz of cicadas would fill the air as the colors of sun began to fade to darkness, yet their buzz would get ever louder. Hiking at local parks and biking with my family, we could always count of the cicdas as a symbol for summer. However, over the past few years their buzz has softened to a gentle whisper. Now when I hike or listen for them to signal the summertime, I can only make out some of their buzzing, an unsettling effect of deforestation and global warming.
