“In 1970, the American peregrine falcon was listed as endangered under the Endangered Species Conservation Act of 1969 (and then again in 1973 when the Endangered Species Act passed) . . . By the mid 1960's, there were no peregrines in the eastern United States and the decline spread westwards so that by the mid-70's western populations had declined by up to 90 percent . . . drastic declines didn't occur until after the widespread use of a popular insecticide — DDT.”
