Personal memory by Stephen Weitz
2013 • Oakland, CA, USA
As a child in the 1950s, I lived on my grandfather's farm in Eastern Washington state. In the 1960s I lived in the South San Francisco Bay Area. In both locations I observed many huge flocks of geese flying in large "V" shapes each fall and spring. I almost see none of them anymore in the 21st century. I am sad. Recently, a red tailed hawk screamed at me at 6 AM from a perch on a light pole above the 580 freeway in East Oakland. My daily neighborhood litter pick up had been delightfully interrupted! Perhaps there is some hope!
