Beauty Inside A Broken Country

Personal memory by Alessandra Garofalo

I remember being young and my parents driving every Friday afternoon to our beautiful beach house in Morrocoy National Park, located in the state of Falcon, Venezuela. Breath taking white sand beaches, clear transparent water, no trash could be seen in the floor. Every person in the beach would have bags for trash inside their boats, or next to were they were seating. Today, people forget to take care of these precious beaches, taking them for granted. They think trash doesn't affect the environment and the living species that make Morrocoy as beautiful as it is. If we don't take care of our beaches, then who will? If we don't protect the living species then who will? Waters are polluted, trash is everywhere. Why can't we go back a few years from today, educate people once again. Imagine being part of the environment, imagine that beach is your house. Would you live in that way? No. Then why do animals and the environment have to?
