Beaches And Inlets Teaming With Clams And Mussels

When we would go to the beach at low tide, the sand was soft and black and clams were sticking up everywhere. We could collect clams and mussels with our toes. To bring 2-3 buckets home for dinner took no more than 20 minutes to collect because the seafood was so plentiful. Squirts would pop up all over the places from clams and mussels pushing out of the sand. Now there are none there although there is a specific beach that the community has fostered earlier on in that area of Cape Cod where clamming still occurs at selected time periods pursuant to permits.
